Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is against the law. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that features a number of amenities aside from the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
