Casinos in Mozambique

[ English ]

The general shortage in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense rather questionable, in one way or another.

In past years, the region was a location where lots of South Africans would check out to flee from the incredibly confining policies on wagering (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Hence, you can count on a picture of a developing business to satisfy that tourist industry.

However, maybe it isn’t all that much of a bombshell. The nation is truly the most barren in the world, having gone through a horrific civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This could make a country a lot less of a vacation focal point, despite the fact that there is now a favorable display along a number of the territory’s stunning beaches.

It is at the same time accurate that regionally somewhat, Mozambique’s casinos have had to partake with many others in the recently liberalized South Africa, including the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines and also video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, also one poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the full tourism business in Mozambique will progress productively. While the local languages are, apparently, African, there is at the same time the remnant of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and increasing awakening of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world-wide phenomenon. The country is extremely cheap (naturally, as it is very poor) and as above, has some of the most attractive beaches worldwide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of features that make tourism agents drool, and as the country advances out of its present slump, it is likely that not only will tourism expand, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer too.

While the country is improbable to ever reinstate its notoriety as a target for partying South Africans, as there are now other selections closer to home for them to derive pleasure in, the growth of a long distance tourism sector is being line up. This would be to serve Europeans hopeful for winter sun, as a break from the gloominess of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, obviously, the greatest prawns (shrimp) in the world come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
